The weather is finally starting to turn, the sun is coming out but we’re all still kind of stuck with limited options for what to do. Many restaurants are closed. Nightlife is non-existent. The few places you CAN go are usually at capacity. While a few cities have started pulling the first wave of restrictions back, that doesn’t mean it’s life as usual, at least not yet.
However with the easing of restrictions many people are out walking more, parks and trails are a bit busier and some of your favourite smoke spots might be a bit -ehrm- less smoker friendly since options are limited and EVERYONE is bored – not just the stoners. If you’re having difficulty finding a place to hide away and have a puff – you might consider picking up a few edibles to help catch a buzz discretely. Ms Green’s Chocolate bars are an affordable option, as well as the popular CannaCo Cookies. Some of Walter’s fancier options are sure to please even the most selective aficionado – especially the long beach cookies or the King louis’ Fat Cats.
While you’re at home with limited options for what to do – now’s the perfect time to try something new, learn a skill or revisit an old hobby.
Lots of people are starting to realize now after sitting around the house with no pants on for weeks that all the little movements you make throughout the day when you’re going somewhere add up. The walk to the car or bus, the puttering around to get things, lunch, going to a coworkers desk – they all add up.
With the abrupt switch to working from home you’re missing out on all that little stuff and it will eventually catch up with you – Lots of people are dealing with a “Quarantine Fifteen” that’s built of over the past few months trapped at home. Part of my daily routine involves taking a walk on my lunch break and taking a cue from the late great Bradley Nowell – I’ll twist up two smallish joints of Walter’s finest sativas. I noticed it helped kick up my heart rate, which in turn made the effects much more noticeable, and made the entire walk more enjoyable.
FINISH THAT PROJECT.
Yes that one. We all have it. That thing you set out to accomplish – it was going to be awesome. Whether it was a home improvement project, a craft or gift, much needed repairs, a creative pursuit or something you’d been planning to do when the weather warmed up – now is the perfect excuse to get it done.
If I need to get something *done* without stopping for smoke breaks one of Ms Greens Chocolate bars or some sativa tincture is my go to. Knock it back with your favourite beverage and you’re set for the next few hours. If “that project” was a bunch of manual labour have half a medicine bar when you finish, and the other half with breakfast the next day. Your aching muscles will thank you.
OLD HOBBY - NEW EYES
Maybe it’s time to go back to an old hobby you stopped for one reason or another. We recently had a niece over and taped up the table in garbage bags so we could paint some dollar store crap. Once we were finished painting the UGLIEST birdhouse you have ever seen and she was on her way back home to mommy – we kept painting.
There was a bunch of stuff we had been meaning to slap a coat of paint on – some 3d printed stuff, some more birdhouses, gifts and trinkets. All kinds of little things nightly until we ran out of stuff to paint. We went through quite a few of Walter’s excellent Cheap 25’s (when they were in stock – hopefully back soon) and it made it pretty relaxing and fun. Over the next few days we found a new inspiration to go back to some of our old hobbies like reading, gaming, crafts and mycology.
LEARN A SKILL
If you’ve got some time on your hands you could always learn something new. A new skill, how something works or gets put together. Everything from how to do some basic coding, car repair, how to use a hair straightener to make old school pressed rosin, carpentry or drawing to something more goal oriented like working on interpersonal skills or something you can apply to your career. Either way – your time is almost never wasted learning.
The trick is featherin’ your buzz so you don’t get distracted, but you don’t want to come down and get burnt out either. Something like our AMBER shatter in an oil rig or one of the vapes from West Coast Smoke Co are perfect for having just a puff. You don’t need to put it away – just have a puff as an incremental reward as you move through your lesson. It’ll make your brain a little more malleable to new concepts without putting you on your ass (unless you overdo it!).
Things are slowly starting to come back to some sort of normality – but we’re not in full swing yet. There’s still the possibility of a second wave of infections, but hopefully the warm weather will help clear things up a bit. Until we get the all clear and can go to restaurants, bars, movies and all the other places we used to visit – keep cabin fever at bay with a box of happiness from Walter filled with all kinds of goodies.
